Halong Bay (Vịnh Hạ Long)
Halong Bay is located in the northeast corner of Viet Nam, 175 km from Ha Noi; in the Province of Quang Ninh. Halong Bay covers an area of 1,553 km2 with 1,969 islands, of which 90% are limestone islands. The name Halong Bay is literally translated as "Bay of Descending Dragons". A legend has been handed down in the local area relating to the name Halong Bay.

Halong Bay is assessed by two factors: tectonic history and geology, geomorphology. Visitors to Halong Bay are not only witnessing the wonder of the world, but also a precious geological museum being kept outdoors for more than 300 million years. There is plenty to explore in the 4000 square kilometer body of water, and it is easy to find peaceful places to swim, fish, or just relax without seeing another soul, yet surrounded by majestic scenery.
Environmental geology of Halong Bay is also fundamental values arise such as biodiversity, archeology and culture of other human values. Halong Bay concentrate with high biological diversity of ecosystems, tropical waters such as mangrove ecosystems, coral reef ecosystems, sea grass ecosystems, forest ecosystems and tropical plants especially agricultural ecosystems specific parts. To date preliminary assessment flora in the bay area has about 347 species of vascular plants belonging to 232 genera, of the 347 known species of plants, 16 species are listed in Vietnam’s red Book of endangered and endangered soon. In the rare species of plants, 95 species of medicinal plants, 37 species of ornamental trees, 13 fruit trees and 10 groups with different usability. Halong fisheries and aquaculture operators harvest many sea products such as abalone, sea cucumber, shrimp, fish, squid, octopus, oysters, clams…etc.
Climate:
The best time to visit Halong Bay is really depends on your own definition of a perfect trip.
Halong Bay is great to see any time in a year. However, the dry season from October to December and the spring time from February to May are best in terms of weather. Although during the winter months of December, January, and February, the weather can be cool and overcast with low visibility, you still enjoy the trip here. The mist even makes Halong Bay more stunning and magically. You may feel that you are in the middle of a fairytale land.
If you are a budget-minded traveler, choose the low season from May to September. The weather in those months is great for all of activities in Halong Bay as it is in summer. However, temperatures rise and storms are more likely during this rainy season.
Travel Advisory:
You’ll need walking shoes, sandal, sunglasses,sunblock, mosquito repellant and a wide-brimmed hat short and T-shirts when travelling in summer. When traveling in winter, warm clothes are recommended.
For beach days, pack two swimsuits, one beach cover-up or large T-shirt, two rash guards for each person. Pack a light sweatshirt or sweater for chilly mornings and evenings, and a lightweight nylon jacket if there is a probability of rain in the forecast.

If you travelling with children, please bring milk, cookies, snack… for them; also bring some medicine in case your children are not fine.
During summer, especially May, June, July, before going to swim, you should ask the guide or captain for advice because it is when the jellyfish are most active.
